Anti-Gay ‘Family Research’ Group Refuses To Receive Mail With New Harvey Milk Stamp

By  – Harvey Milk The U.S Postal Service recently released a new stamp in honor of Harvey Milk. Milk was one of the nation’s first openly gay elected officials, who was eventually gunned down for his activism. But not everyone is happy about the stamp honoring the former member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

The stamp’s unveiling has incensed the American Family Association. The Evangelical Christian organization is urging its members not only to avoid purchasing the stamp, but to also even refuse to accept or open any letter or package postmarked with Milk’s face.

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins announced in his daily email alert that the Obama administration was to blame for issuing the stamp. As bizarre as it sounds, Perkins even tried to correlate the release of the stamp with the imprisonment of a Sudanese mother who is facing the death penalty for her conversion to Christianity…

The American Family Association said that all members should “refuse to accept the Harvey Milk stamp if offered by your local post office.”

They went on to say that it was just as important to “refuse to accept mail at your home or business if it is postmarked with the Harvey Milk stamp. Simply write ‘Return to Sender’ on the envelope and tell your postman you won’t accept it.”

In an attempt to test this policy, Abby Ohlheiser decided to test the AFA’s commitment. He sent a $5 donation to the American Family Association in an envelope with a Harvey Milk stamp. No word yet on whether this was accepted or returned yet.
