ISIS Calls For American Extremists To Help Kill 100 Service Members On U.S. Soil

The Islamic State has just issued a new threat online, imploring its sympathizers within the United States to take it upon themselves to murder 100 members of the U.S. military.

Pictures, names and addresses of the 100 service members have been posted on one of the terrorist group’s websites calling for the military members’ assassination. They are being targeted allegedly for their participation in actions in Iraq, Syria and Yemen, among other locations. F.B.I. and Defense Department officials say they are hip to the matter and investigating.

The information on the 100 service members was not obtained through a hack of government or military servers; however, an official from the Defense Department said. Instead, it was pulled together from public records, address searches online, and especially from social media sites – a virtual treasure trove of personal information. Often, much of the doxing Anonymous “leaks” offer can be assembled in a similar manner. It’s not “secret” information, per say, but personal, hidden in broad daylight amidst a sea of other people’s similar information. It becomes heightened when virtually all aspects of one’s personal life are collated and broadcast in a spotlight for the public to read and know about.

The best officials can make of the list is that it appears to be pulling names from articles covering airstrikes against the notorious militants. Other names seem to stem from reports issued by the Defense Department, covering numerous campaigns waged against the terrorist group.

Putting a bit of a cramp in that theory’s style, however, is the fact that other military members currently on American soil are listed, as well – folks who have never had a thing to do with airstrikes half a world away.

One such example, the Justice Department said, is the B-52 crew members listed, considering B-52 bombers are not being used for airstrikes against the Islamic State. Those crew members are stationed in North Dakota and Louisiana.

Also of note on the list are numerous women’s names. Their faces, however, have been blurred in the pics listed, though one did appear to be from some kind of meeting with Obama.

U.S. officials have sorely had to admit the apparent savvy of the Islamic State’s online presence, especially with its utilization of social media platforms. The “Hacking Division” of the militant group posted recently:

“With the huge amount of data we have from various different servers and databases, we have decided to leak 100 addresses so that our brothers in America can deal with you.”

It continued:

“And now we have made it easy for you by giving you addresses, all you need to do is take the final step, so what are you waiting for?”

Just like the threat made against the Mall of America, calls to action such as this plant seeds that can sometimes germinate in the minds of the less stable. More times often than not, they are nothing but a fear tactic, but it only takes one crazy out there to take such murderous rallying cries to the next level

These are the chickens coming home to roost, folks, and when the chickens are in, they will peck.
