James Comey Wanted His Written Testimony Out There Early—and With Good Reason

by Kerry Eleveld – There’s nothing normal about releasing the written testimony of a public figure like former FBI director James Comey 24 hours in advance of his appearance at a Congressional hearing. But James Comey wanted it that way.  CBS News   ✔@CBSNews NEW: Comey requested remarks be posted Wednesday, individual in contact with him tells CBS News; “this is the way he wanted it to play out.” 3:16 PM – 7 Jun 2017 This isn’t Comey’s first tussle with an executive branch nor is he a neophyte in dealing with the current commander-in-chief. Indeed, Comey notes in his testimony that after having two totally unremarkable interactions with Barack Obama during his entire presidency, he’s already engaged in “nine one-on-one conversations with President Trump in four months”—each one more cringeworthy than the last. So Comey knows a thing or two about how Donald Trump operates and he apparently wanted to deliver a pre-emptive strike of his own before testifying...

White House Twists Bombshell Testimony About Russia Contacts

by Aaron Rupar – The Trump administration wants you to believe the CIA has no evidence of collusion, but that’s not what the former director said. During a House Intelligence Committee Hearing on Tuesday, former CIA Director John Brennan said the FBI’s investigation of the Trump campaign’s connections with Russia is “well founded.” He cited “information and intelligence that revealed contacts and interactions between Russian officials and U.S. persons involved in the Trump campaign that I was concerned about because of known Russian efforts to suborn such individuals” as evidence. As Daily Beast editor Justin Miller pointed out, Brennan’s testimony represents the first time a U.S. official has publicly said they have direct knowledge of communications between the Trump campaign and Russia. Brennan didn’t come out and detail evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. He explained during the hearing the evidence is classified information and not appropriate to discuss...

The Possible Reasons Flynn was Refused Immunity are all Good for the Blue Team

by TrueBlueMajority – Is it wrong that I am smiling? When I saw that the Senate Intelligence Committee rejected Michael Flynn’s immunity request, I grinned from ear to ear. For hours. In fact, I think I am still smiling now. Let me look in the mirror… yes!  That *is* a smile I see! Because every single thing about this development is good for the Blue Team. It’s a clear sign that the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence intends to demonstrate how men who know what they are doing handle this kind of thing. Mark Warner and Richard Burr (sir) may as well have said to Devin Nunes: “Serious people play this game a different way.  Watch and learn, kid.  This is how we do it.” The same crystal clear message has been sent to DJT/Bannon, neither of whom has any idea how Congress works, how investigations work, or what a starship...
