Sander Vanocur was born on this day January , 1928.                                                             Sander Vanocur rose to fame as NBC’s White House corresponded to John F. Kennedy and was know a frequent contributor on “The Huntley-Brinkley Show” and weekend anchor of “The Today Show.”He has served as both political and chief diplomatic correspondent for both NBC and ABC, hosted a show called “Business World” for ABC and is the last surviving member of the Nixon-Kennedy debates. Vanocur was the first national reporter to come out against the war in Vietnam and was once fired by “The New York Times” for, as he put it, “Writing like people talked and not like The New York Times wanted.” Sandy Vanocur is alive and well and living in Santa Barbara.
