Teens Who Engage in ‘Sexting’ Should Not Be Prosecuted as Sex Offenders

by Amy Roe, Senior Writer, ACLU of Washington – In an early episode of the television series “Girls,” Adam sends Hannah a photo of his penis and then a text message: “SRY that wasn’t for you.” Hannah and her friends debate the intention of Adam’s actions, but one thing is clear: The explicit photo he sent isn’t unusual, and it certainly isn’t criminal. GOP Missouri House Speaker John Diehl in Hot Water After Sexually Suggestive Texts with Intern

By Jen Hayden, Daily Kos – Missouri House Speaker John Diehl is facing a lot of uncomfortable questions Thursday morning after the Kansas City Star released screen shots of inappropriate texts: The texts show occasional efforts by Diehl and the intern to meet in person. They range from mundane chatter, about boring meetings and dreading speeches, to the more sexually suggestive. A sample of the exchanges: At one point Diehl texts her “God I want you right now,” to which she replies “I wish you could have me right now.” In another exchange, she sends a picture of herself in a bikini and Diehl responds: “Damn girl …” Shortly after he writes: “I want to see more” followed by a smiling emoji. Diehl is a 49-year-old married father of three. The intern in question was part of a 20-year-old internship program through Missouri Southern State University, which coincidentally, abruptly shut down mid-semester. Richard...

Ben Stein’s Sexting Will Have You Begging For Anthony Weiner

by Wendy Gittleson – It’s always the quiet ones… Ben Stein, is probably best known as the economics teacher on Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. He’s also an economist in real life who had his start as a speechwriter in the Nixon administration. In hindsight, it all sort of makes sense now. The married Stein is his own kind of perv. Currently, he’s making headlines for an alleged sexting relationship with a 24-year-old pregnant performance artist (not his baby). Stein introduced readers to the performance artist, Tanya Ma, in his Spectator column, where he compares himself to a teenager who gets mad crushes that last about 10 minutes. He also said, “my main obsessions in my life are my wife, my dog,...
