Sadly, however, far too many Americans are buying into the fear mongering and hate of the GOP, especially conservatives. In response to the Paris terrorist attacks, Republicans have viciously opposed granting asylum to thousands of Syrians fleeing their homes as a result of civil war and terrorism. ‘A Great Day for Corporate America’: US Senate Passes Fast Track

Shameful’ vote all but ensures approval of mammoth trade deals like the TransPacific Partnership By Deirdre Fulton, Common Dreams – In a win for multinational corporations and the global one percent, the U.S. Senate on Tuesday narrowly advanced Fast Track, or Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) — ensuring for all practical purposes the continued rubber-stamping of clandestine trade agreements like the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) and TransAtlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). The cloture motion to end debate needed 60 votes and it got just that, passing the chamber 60-37. The full roll call is here. A final vote will come on Wednesday. Report Says Wall Street Ready to Punish Dems over Elizabeth Warren

According to exlusive reporting by Reuters on Friday, big Wall Street banks are so upset with Elizabeth Warren’s call to “un-rig” the economy and proposals for stronger financial regulations that discussions are underway about withholding campaign contributions to Senate Democrats as a form of “symbolic” protest against the freshman senator from Massachusetts. Citing sources familiar with the situation, representatives of some of the nation’s largest banks — including Citigroup, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and Bank of America — have actively considered putting pressure on the Democratic establishment by making a coordinated threat to withold campaign contributions unless the populist rhetoric coming from Sen. Warren and her colleague from Ohio, Sen. Sherrod Brown, is toned down.
