Trump Cuts Millions From the US Holocaust Museum, Sparking Outrage

by SemDem –

Who would have guessed that the same guy who installed alt-right Nazis in the White House, gets his information from anti-Semitic hate sites, and refused to even mention Jews on Holocaust Memorial Day would do something like this:

A bipartisan group of 64 members of Congress is demanding a reversal on $3 million in funding cuts to the US Holocaust Memorial Museum…

I heard about this from my Congresswoman, Stephanie Murphy (FL-7), who is spearheading the effort to get it reversed.  On Friday, the 64 members of Congress signed  a letter to the Interior appropriations subcommittee that reads, in part:

“In our view, the mission of the museum has never been more important, particularly as the number of anti-Semitic attacks around the world rises… Now is not the time to cut funding for this national treasure.”

The wave of anti-Semitic attacks, which the letter refers to, means the massive spike in assaults, bomb threats, vandalism, and cemetery desecrations that have occurred since Trump’s election.

As has been the case since the Nazi era, Holocaust deniers and white nationalists  blame the Jews themselves for the violence perpetrated against them. David Duke, former imperial “wizard” of the KKK and Trump defender, made a statement along those lines and, of course, Trump borrowed Duke’s phrasing.  At a press conference, where Trump was given the multiple opportunities to resoundingly denounce these attacks, Trump responded by blaming his opponents.

Sadly, I can’t even say this was the most anti-Semitic news conference from the White House this year.  (That would have to go to Sean Spicer arguing that Hitler never used poison gas.)

Jonathan A. Greenblatt of the Anti-Defamation League said cutting the museum’s funding would be a “mistake”, not only because it would hinder their effort to keep the memory alive of the six million Jews killed under Hitler’s Nazi regime, but because it educates the new generations about “the importance of combating hate and bigotry”.

Instead of trying to cripple it, Trump and his team should take a field trip to the US Holocaust Memorial Museum. I can think of few others who need that valuable lesson in combating hate and bigotry more.

Never again means not now.

I will always hate the Jew. This government is run by evil people, and please, vote for Trump!!
